'Vampire Diaries' Spin-Off 'The Originals' Debuts, Tim Gunn Co-Hosts 'The View'

Tonight's episode of The Vampire Diaries is a spin-off pilot for a series called The Originals. If picked up, it would star series regulars Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and The Secret Circle's Phoebe Tonkin. Morgan will join District 9's Sharlto Copley and The River's Thomas Kretschmann in the horror film Open Grave. The screenplay details the terror of a man who wakes up in a pit full of  bodies, having forgotten who he was or how he got there—or as Lindsay Lohan calls it, Sunday morning. As pieces of familiarity come to light, he tries to determine whether the culprit is someone who rescued him from the ditch or whether he was the murderer himself.

Project Runway's Tim Gunn guests on today's Anderson Live with Anderson Cooper, and he co-hosts tomorrow morning's The View on ABC. Guess he needs the work since the current season of Project Runway ends tonight. But don't worry, Lifetime always seems to have a new version ready to air just around the corner. I heard the next one is Project Runway: Outcasts in which the contestants have to make haute couture from only what they find on an island. Yes, I'm kidding, but don't be surprised when Bravo comes up with that premise.

Classic Star Trek fans will be crowding The Grove in L.A.'s Fairfax District when original series star William Shatner appears live for a taping of Extra at 2:30 p.m.

Justin Timberlake guests on today's Ellen Show with host Ellen Degeneres. I just wish she'd insist he take his shirt off like she always does with Mario Lopez. Timberlake will play the late great '70s record producer and co-founder of Casablanca Records, Neil Bogart, in the film Spinning Gold. He will also act as co-producer with Bogart's son Evan Bogart.

Star of Quentin Lee's White Frog, HarryShum Jr. and Sex and the City vet Sarah Jessica Parker return in tonight's episode of Glee. American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez will make her debut as a singer from a rival high school and along with Shum, appear in the next three episodes of the season.
