Absolutely Fabulous

This July, Sin City is about to get more sinful. Fabulous Vegas, MGM Resorts International’s LGBT-focused weekend extravaganza, returns for its third year and promises to be more decadent than ever. Running July 12-15, the event encompasses a multi-property expanse, creating an ideal vacation destination jam-packed with parties and entertainment. It’s no wonder last year’s Fabulous was nicknamed ‘A City Without Limits.’ This year’s event sports new parties, new entertainers, a new tagline and a plethora of reasons for gay Angelenos to, as advertisements suggest, “Come out and play again.”

“This year, our tagline is ‘A gay celebration, Las Vegas-style,’” says Scott Voeller, Vice President of Brand Strategy and Advertising for MGM Resorts International, “which we feel better describes what Fabulous is to our guests—a four-day weekend showcasing the best of the best in Vegas nightlife and entertainment with celebrity hosts, DJs and performing artists. Fabulous is the ultimate gay weekend, hosted by the premier Las Vegas destinations, all part of MGM Resorts International.”

The aforementioned premier Las Vegas destinations include Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo, Luxor and The Mirage. Combine these plush locales with adept DJs and hilarious hosts, and this year’s Fabulous is more outrageous than ever before.

“In Las Vegas, everything gets bigger and better year after year. The same goes for Fabulous,” explains Voeller. “This year we have taken the party to a higher level, bringing in celebrity hosts, DJs and performing artists, including Sherry Vine, Cazwell, Jonny McGovern and DJ J.BRAY.”

Also included in the lineup is L.A.’s beloved queer crack-up, Drew Droege. The comedian/writer/director has gained clout with his memorable appearances on Hot in Cleveland, How I Met Your Mother and The Sarah Silverman Program, but he is most recognizable as his YouTube alter-ego, Chloë Sevigny. Droege slips into his Chloë persona when speaking about Fabulous Vegas.

“I’m excited about slots, shots and Social Studies,” says Chloë. “Please pack your Havaianas!”

But there’s so much more to get excited about, as Voeller describes in greater detail.

“From sun-up to sundown, we’ll have a full schedule of events, including daytime pool parties at Landshark Lagoon and Temptation Sundays at Luxor; nightclub events at Eyecandy Sound Lounge and miX Lounge at Mandalay Bay; and sophisticated dining options including discounts at Social House at Crystals, STACK at The Mirage and BRAND at Monte Carlo.”

Similar to last year, these events are accessible through a VIP card system. This piece of plastic is your golden ticket to the best Vegas has to offer.

“Guests who book a Fabulous package will be given a VIP Access Card upon check-in at their hotel,” says Voeller. “The Fabulous VIP Access Card provides guests complimentary access to the Fabulous pool parties and nightclubs, as well as drink specials and discounts at Fabulous events and DineOUT restaurants. Our exclusive VIP social dining program, DineOUT, has expanded to offer a wider range of top-level dining experiences throughout the MGM Resorts family, including deals from Rice & Company, BRAND Steakhouse and Lounge and Fleur by Hubert Keller, among others.”

These perks are just one of the reasons MGM makes a perfect partner for Fabulous Vegas. With the company’s longtime support of the gay and lesbian communities, MGM and Fabulous make an ideal pair.

“Our company has a reputation for being the leader in welcoming the LGBT community to Las Vegas,” Voeller adds. “MGM Resorts combines the best of the best in Las Vegas daylife, nightlife, dining, entertainment and LGBT-focused events to create the ultimate four-day bash, so Fabulous guests can get the most out of their stay without the hassle of coordinating an itinerary. Our resorts are looking forward to celebrating this spectacular weekend.”

Although Fabulous attracts party boys from all corners of the U.S., the party seeks to specifically appeal to the gay L.A. demographic.

“Guests can party, rub elbows with celebrities and dine at top-level restaurants in a fun-filled, welcoming atmosphere,” says Voeller. “Our L.A. friends come to Las Vegas often, and we have created Fabulous to give them another reason to celebrate in style and comfort. Come join us in Vegas for a wild four days dedicated entirely to you!”
