Congratulations to Washington State residents Col. Margarette Cammermeyer (ret) and Diane Divelbess, whom Cammermeyer met in 1988 when she was a 46-year-old married mother of four sons. Cammermeyer’s pre-"Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" story was turned into a 1995 made-for-TV movie—Serving in Silence: The Greta Cammermeyer Story, starring Glenn Close and Judy Davis, produced by Close, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron with Barbra Streisand—where the onscreen kiss generated more publicity than the military kicking out a longtime honored vet working on her Ph.D.
