Latinos Are Making Hollywood Headlines
A number of sexy Latinos will soon be protecting the streets of Los Angeles. Well, sort of. FOX TV’s mid-season police series, Gang Related, hasn’t even debuted yet. It comes to the small screen on Tuesday, May 20 (9-10 p.m), and it’s already creating buzz among the Latino community. The series, which will take us on the journey of L.A. Villaraigosa has a new job, Carmen Zapata has passed away
Previous L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, a huge supporter of the gay community, has added a new title to his long list of accomplishments. The former mayor has joined Spanish-language broadcaster Estrella TV as a senior advisor to help the 4-year-old television network gain more traction. The Estrella network is hoping to compete with Spanish language giants Saban’s Univision Communications and NBCUniversal’s Telemundo. Working as a consultant seems to be Villaraigosa’s latest way of making money. He was recently named a senior advisor for Herbalife Ltd., Banc of California and the public relations firm Edelman. “We feel that Antonio Villaraigosa—who really does ...

Production snags on 'Gloria,' 'Castro's Daughter' gets cast, Esai Morales to play POTUS
Superstar Gloria Trevi, who has often been referred to as the “Mexican Madonna,” is once again making news. A film based on the life of the pop icon began shooting in Mexico City in November of last year. Unfortunately, production has hit a snag because lawyers on behalf of the singer have sent a cease-and-desist letter to the producers of the film, tentatively titled Gloria. The biopic is a collaborative piece between Rio Negro in Mexico, Ocean Films Brasil and U.S.-based producers Barrie Osborne and Alan Curtiss. Several weeks before the shoot began, the songstress told a Mexican newspaper ...

Monster Ball
On Saturday, Oct. 26, David Rios and Joe Sparks recruited DJ Manny C (a favorite of mine) to bring us their epic annual Halloween party Monster Ball, which was a night of drinking, partying and more drinking. Shocker! The spooktacular event took place at a large warehouse in Monrovia, allowing hundreds of guests to enjoy themselves at the highly anticipated event. Monster Ball had three spacious areas—a main stage, executive lounge and a glowing patio. DJs Manny C, B-Hen, Beats and Charlie Phresh kept the dance floors busy. Pantelion Films is not letting the success of Instructions Not Included and Pulling Strings pass them by. It’s based on a true story about four undocumented Mexican-American high school kids who build a robot as part of a science project and go on to compete in a national science competition. 'El Show with Chuey Martinez,' Pablo Ferro receives lifetime achievement award
YouTube is about to get a lot more macho. That’s because Macho by MiTu has debuted its channel on YouTube, which kicked off earlier this month with its original series El Show with Chuey Martinez. The show is being produced by MiTu execs Doug Grieff, Beatriz Acevedo and TV vet Lisa Hackner. El Show is hosted by KIIS FM personality Chuey Martinez, an outrageous but loveable, larger–than-life 'urban everyman' who is equally comfortable conversing with A-List celebs as he is with amateur talent and everyday people. He's no stranger to the spotlight. The California native has hosted shows on MTV ...
